The all-new 2014 Transit Connect features two engines new for the Transit Connect – the standard 2.5L Duratec® I-4 engine and the available 1.6L EcoBoost® I-4 engine – both of which deliver an efficient performance. If you want to operate using compressed natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas, the Transit Connect can be equipped with the CNG/LPG Gaseous Prep Package.* And to help provide an efficient performance, electric powerassisted steering and low-rolling-resistance tires are standard.

The 2.5L Duratec® I-4 engine in the Transit Connect is designed to deliver an efficient performance, while providing the power you need. It’s mated to a new 6-speed automatic transmission, engineered to handle everyday commercial use and to provide the low-end torque needed for hauling heavy loads.

The 1.6L EcoBoost engine is now available on the Transit Connect Wagon. It’s mated to a new 6-speed automatic transmission engineered to handle everyday commercial use and to provide the low-end torque needed for hauling heavy loads.

The new 2.5L I-4 engine in the 2014 Transit Connect is available with a CNG/LPG Gaseous Engine Prep Package that makes it capable of conversion to CNG/LPG fuel systems.* This package includes hardened intake valves, valve seats and bi-fuel manifold.

The Transit Connect features standard electric power-assisted steering (EPAS), which helps deliver great maneuverability and responsive handling. Because EPAS uses an electric motor instead of a hydraulic pump, its control can be precisely programmed to enable technologies that help steering control, such as pull-drift compensation and active nibble control. EPAS contributes to fuel efficiency because the electric motor operates only when steering assistance is required. This is a more efficient way of managing energy than traditional hydraulic systems, which run continuously. The Transit Connect also has low-rolling-resistance tires, which help minimize wasted energy as a tire rolls.
